Quarter Mile is a work-mileage log run by Jacob Landrum in Georgia, USA. This page is the whole agreement. It is written to be read.
What it keeps
- Your account. The email you sign up with, held by Clerk, the sign-in service. No password is stored here.
- Your trips. Date, start and end odometer, start and end place, stops, miles, the vehicle, and anything you type about the trip.
- Places. When the drive screen opens, your phone can hand over its location so the screen can name where you are and tell home from work. That one point is saved on the trip. Nothing runs in the background and nothing reads your location between drives.
- Home. If you save a home spot, it is kept so trips that start or end there are recognized.
- Dash photos. If you photograph the odometer, the photo is kept with the reading. The photo is sent to an AI service once, to read the number and pre-fill it. You can always type the number instead.
- Support messages. What you write from Help and the replies. Those also go out by email.
- Payment. Stripe handles cards. We keep Stripe’s customer and subscription ids and the date you’re paid through, never a card number.
What it does with that
- Shows you your log, figures miles times the IRS rate, and builds your quarterly report. That’s it.
- Nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising. No one else sees your trips.
- Email from the app comes from a Gmail address and only about your account: support replies and, if you ask for them, reports.
- Services under the hood: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Clerk (sign-in), Stripe (payments), OpenStreetMap (naming places). Each sees only what it needs to do its job.
Your data is yours
- Download every trip any time as a CSV from Settings, on a trial, on a plan, or after one ends.
- Trips stay saved when a trial or plan ends. You can still open Settings, download the CSV and write to Help.
- To delete your account and everything in it, write from Help or email jacoblandrum92@gmail.com. It is removed within a week.
Paying
- The first 14 days are free, no card. After that, pick a plan: by the quarter or by the year. Prices are shown before you pay and renew at the same price until you cancel or we tell you otherwise, in writing, at least 30 days ahead.
- Cancel any time from Settings. Your plan runs to the end of what you’ve paid and does not renew. We don’t refund part of a period, but if something went wrong, write to Help and we’ll sort it out.
- A failed card gets a few retries from Stripe. If it never goes through, the plan ends and your trips stay saved.
What it is and isn’t
- It’s a log. The deduction shown is your miles times the IRS standard mileage rate for each date. Which drives count, and what you can deduct, is between you and your tax preparer. The log and the report are what they’ll ask to see.
- Nothing here is tax advice and nothing is filed with the IRS. Check the report before you use it.
- Odometer readings and places are recorded as entered or as the phone reported them. Correct anything that’s off from the Trip form.
- It’s a small service run by one person. It aims to be up all the time and will not always be. Keep your own records too; the CSV download is for that.
- Our responsibility to you is limited to what you paid in the last twelve months.
- Use it for your own driving records. Don’t try to get into anyone else’s.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, you’ll see a note in Settings first. The date at the top always says when it last changed. Georgia law applies.
